Privacy Policy for Cairn WayLast updated:

26 August 2026

Cairn Way is a Christian discipleship app that offers Scripture, reflection, and a
simple daily action for whatever you are carrying. This policy explains what the app
collects, why, and what your choices are. It is written to be read, not to be
skimmed past.

The short version: Cairn Way does not require you to create an
account, does not show ads, and does not sell or share your information with
anyone. What you write in the app is stored so that it is there when you come back,
and nothing more is done with it.

Who is responsible for your information

Cairn Way is published by Cairn Way. If you have a question about this policy or
about your information, write to
support@scribe.church and a person will
answer you.

What Cairn Way collects

An account created automatically, with no signup

The first time you open Cairn Way, the app creates an anonymous account for you in
the background. You are not asked for a name, an email address, or a password, and
none is collected at this stage. This anonymous account exists so that your progress
can be saved. It is identified only by a random identifier and is not connected to
your name or your device’s identity.

Your progress

When you complete a day in the app, Cairn Way stores your day streak, the date you
were last active, which struggle-track you walked, your answer to that evening’s
check-in question (yes, partly, or not yet), and any note you chose to write in the
reflection box. This is stored so that your streak is accurate and so your history is
still there when you return.

An email address, only if you choose to add one

On the Progress screen, Cairn Way offers to save your progress by adding an email
address. This is entirely optional and the app works fully without it. If you do add
one, it is used for a single purpose: to let you recover your account and history if
you change or lose your phone. It is never used for marketing, and Cairn Way will not
send you promotional email.

What you type in the app

Cairn Way has free-text boxes: a place to describe what you are carrying, and a
place to reflect on how the day’s action went. What you write there is yours. It is
stored with your account so you can see it again, it is not shown to other users, it
is not published anywhere, and it is not read or reviewed by us for any purpose other
than helping you if you ask for support.

What Cairn Way does not collect

  • No location data.
  • No contacts, photos, files, microphone, or camera access.
  • No advertising identifiers, and no advertising of any kind.
  • No health or medical records. Cairn Way is not a medical or mental health
service and does not diagnose, treat, or track any condition.

How your information is used

Your information is used only to make the app work as you expect it to: to keep
your streak accurate, to show you the track you chose, to keep your reflections
available to you, and — if you added an email — to let you recover your account. It
is not used to build a profile of you, to target you, or to make decisions about you.

Who else can see it

Cairn Way does not sell your information, does not share it with advertisers, and
does not share it with other users. Two service providers process data strictly on
Cairn Way’s behalf so the app can function:

  • Supabase hosts the database and handles account sign-in. Your
progress and any email you provide are stored there.
  • Google Play processes any subscription purchase. Cairn Way
never sees or stores your card details — those are handled entirely by Google.

Information may also be disclosed if the law requires it, which has not happened
and which would be resisted where there are legitimate grounds to do so.

Subscriptions

Cairn Way is free to download and free to use for a limited number of
struggle-tracks. An optional premium subscription unlocks all of them. Subscriptions
are billed through your Google Play account, managed by you in Google Play, and
cancellable there at any time. Payment information is handled by Google and is never
collected or stored by Cairn Way.

How long information is kept

Your progress and reflections are kept for as long as your account exists, because
their whole purpose is to still be there when you come back. If you ask for your
account to be deleted, everything associated with it is deleted.

Your choices

  • Use the app without an email. Adding one is always optional.
  • Ask for a copy of your data. Write to
support@scribe.church and it will be sent
    to you.
  • Ask for deletion. Write to the same address and your account
and everything in it will be deleted. No reason is required.
  • Uninstall. Removing the app stops all collection immediately.

Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights under laws such as the
UK GDPR, the EU GDPR, or the California Consumer Privacy Act — including the right to
access, correct, or erase your information, and to object to its processing. Cairn Way
honours these requests regardless of where you live.

Security

Information sent between the app and its servers is encrypted in transit. Access to
stored data is restricted by database-level security rules so that an account can only
ever reach its own records. No system is perfectly secure, and no such promise is made
here — but your information is treated as if it matters, because it does.

Children

Cairn Way is not directed at children under 13 and is not designed for them. The
subject matter — grief, marriage, temptation, and other adult burdens — is intended
for teenagers and adults. Information is not knowingly collected from children under
13. If you believe a child has provided information, write to
support@scribe.church and it will be
removed.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes in a way that affects what is collected or how it is used,
the date at the top of this page will be updated, and material changes will be noted
in the app.
